Men’s Health Network (MHN) created a national education campaign aimed at getting men talking and thinking about colon health, while taking steps toward protecting their colon.  A nationwide survey shows that more than two-thirds of men (68 %) have not consulted a doctor about their risk of developing colon cancer, and nearly half (48 %) are not at all concerned about developing colon cancer – the nation’s second most deadly cancer.  Furthermore, over one-third (37 %) of men polled are unfamiliar with important preventative measures for the disease, such as regular colon screenings, exercise and a healthy diet.

“The survey speaks for itself and MHN is issuing a call-to-action," says Dr. David Gremillion, Professor of Medicine at the University of North Carolina and a member of the MHN board of directors.  "Almost all of colorectal cancer cases and deaths are thought to be preventable.  Men should be using all of the resources out there to learn about and help protect themselves against this disease."
